DHARAMSHALA: Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Kalon of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration visited Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) yesterday. He was accompanied by Secretary Tenzin Lungtok of the department.The visit was part of Kalon’s effort to take stock of present status and inspect overall administration of Tibetan cultural institutions as well as Tibetan monastic institutions under this department.
On their arrival at the institute, Kalon and Secretary were warmly received by Director Wangdu Tsering of TIPA, staff members and artists. As per program arranged by them, Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok visited various sections of TIPA such as museum, performing arts hall, musical instrument and costume store room and hostels.
In the afternoon, as requested by the Director, Chorig Kalon addressed the artistes and staff members of TIPA. Kalon paid his sincere appreciation to the past generation of members of TIPA who had dedicated their life for turning this institution as the main center of learning cultural dance of Tibet. He also lauded the present staff and artistes for their contribution towards the preservation and promotion of our unique culture which are under the verge of extinction in Tibet because of imposing various repressive policies by Chinese government and heard their suggestions.
Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok left Dharamsala today for an official visit to monastic institutions around Gopalpur, Tashi Jong and Tso Pema.
