Primary teacher training begins at Sarah

Dharamshala: As a part of the implementation of the Basic Education Policy, the Department of Education has started yet another teacher training course i.e. Two-Year Primary Teacher Training at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah, Dharamshala beginning 2 July.
Education Kalon Thupten Lungrig was the chief guest for the inaugural function.
The function was also attended by Ven. Kalsang Damdul, Deputy Director, Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamshala, Ven. Jampal Dhakpa, Principal and lecturers of College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah and Education Officers of the Department.
There are 17 graduate trainees who will undergo the teacher-training course and will complete in April 2009. All the students of CHTS also attended the function coinciding opening of the new academic year.
Following the approval of Basic Education Policy for Tibetans in exile in 2004, an intensive three-month teacher training was conducted in 2005. In the year 2006, teacher-training course for 29 trainees in Tibetan Bachelor of Education was conducted at Sarah. All of them are now working in various Tibetan schools.
Presently, 24 pre-primary teachers are also undergoing their second year training at TCV Montessori Centre, Dharamshala.
