Dharamshala: Two secretaries of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration, successfully completed a week-long tour of the Tibetan settlements and schools in Himachal Pradesh to raise greater awareness of the Middle-Way Approach of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet.
This tour is a part of the department’s two-year programme to explain the basic points of the Middle-Way Approach to the Tibetans in settlements, schools and colleges in India and Nepal.
Secretary Thubten Samphel and Secretary Lobsang Tsultrim Jeshong started their tour from the Tibetan Children’s Village, Gopalpur, where they spoke to about 400 students on 27 June.
They also distributed leaflets in Tibetan and English and screened a documentary on the Middle-Way Approach and also answered the questions from the students.
In the afternoon the two drove to Tashi Jong Tibetan settlement and talked to around 60 people about the Middle-Way Approach and screened the documentary.
The next day, Mr. Samphel and Mr. Jeshong drove to Bir and the neighbouring Tibetan Industrial Society in Bir and showed the documentary and distributed the leaflets and spoke to the people at the settlements and answered their pointed questions.
On 29 June the two traveled to the Tibetan settlement in Chauntara and spoke to about 70 people which was followed by their talk at the Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) in Suja to about 800 students of the opportunity class. All the students of the opportunity class are from Tibet.
Since the TCV Suja hall was too small to accommodate all the students, the two spoke to another group of 700 students from class VI to X in the evening.
This was followed by a series of talks and show at Tso Pema (Rewalsar), Pondho, Mandi, Kullu, TCV Patlikhul and Manali Tibetan settlements.
