Speaker Karma Chophel to visit United States

Dharamshala: The Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE), Mr Karma Chophel left Dharamshala this afternoon for a visit to United States at the invitation of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives.

During his visit, the speaker will attend the ceremony on 17 October to award the US Congressional Gold Medal to His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, DC. US President George W Bush will present the gold medal to His Holiness.

The Speaker will address the Tibetan community in Washington, DC.
