Karze (Ch: Ganzi) County, Karze “TAP”, Kham (incorporated into
Chinese province of Sichuan) – Three people severely beaten and
arrested for staging a peaceful protest
Namsey Lhamo (a 30-year woman), Tenzin Dhargye (a 32-year man), and a
monk, all from Rakha village, Dado township, Karze county, were
severely beaten and arrested by the People’s Armed Police (PAP) for
peacefully protesting at around 11:00 a.m. on 11 June at the county
government office.
During the protest, they demanded “His Holiness the Dalai Lama
must be immediately welcomed back to Tibet”, “freedom for Tibet”,
“release all the political prisoners”, and “China quit Tibet”.
When Namsey Lhamo was being arrested, her brother attempted to
help her. Later, the PAP arrived at his home and tried to arrest him
also. But, her brother fled his home.
Some of our sources reported that there were five protestors who were all arrested. No details are available.

peaceful protest
It is reported that two monks were arrested by the PAP for staging a
peaceful protest on 10 June at the county government office.
In another incident, a woman was arrested by the county Public
Security Bureau (PSB) for her alleged involvement in sharing
information with the outside world through phone calls. No details are
available.

Machu (Ch: Maqu) County, Kanlho “TAP”, Amdo (incorporated into
Chinese province of Gansu) – Some detainees released with heavy fine
Some of the lay people and monks, who were arrested around 22 and 23
March from Machu county, were recently released after they were heavily
fined with cash. Health of few of them has deteriorated due to severe
torture.
Lodoe Wangpo (or Shidae Gyatso), who was arrested and detained
on 17 April from Lanzhou city in China, was released on 27 May after
paying many thousands of Yuans. After his arrest, the Chinese
authorities closed down a school which was established and run by him,
and its students were sent to a primary school in Machu county. Lodoe
Wangpo is not allowed to manage the school.
