Tibet Talk Given at the Political Science Institute of Toulouse in France

Paris (TibetNet): A special lecture on Tibet entitled “Tibet, today’s perspectives” was organised for the first time at the Political Science Institute in Toulouse, France, on the 25th January 2006. The lecture was organised by the Institute’s Students’ Association for Development and Solidarity action.
Over 140 people, mainly students of the Institute attended the lecture session during which Mr Wangpo Bashi, Secretary of the Bureau du Tibet, Paris, presented the contemporary history of Tibet, exile community and consistent efforts being made by the exile administration under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet through dialogue.
Mrs. Renee Courtade of the Amnesty International, presented different aspects of the grave violations of human rights in China and in Tibet and urged every person to act as a citizen of the free world.
Mrs. Jordane de Marliave of the local Tibet Support Group (TSG) Rencontres Tibetaines, explained various actions undertaken by her association for the past 15 years in collaboration with other 55 TSGs at national and at an international level networking with some 350 different groups and associations.
After the lecture, question-and-answer session was held during which the participants asked series of sharp questions, which were mostly responded by Wangpo Bashi. Besides, he gave an outline of the Middle-Way approach and the ongoing Sino-Tibetan dialogue, which resumed in 2002. The day before the Tibet Talk, a movie called Kundun was shown at the Institute.
