His Holiness Joins Discussion with Scholars and Academicians

Dharamshala (TibetNet): His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived at Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh state yesterday evening and was received by His Eminence the Karmapa, Ugyen Trinley Dorjee, district commissioner of Sarnath and director of the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) at the airport.
On the way, there were around 200 to 300 people including CIHTS students, people from Himalayan regions, Tibetan pilgrims and foreigners welcoming His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
This morning His Holiness the Dalai Lama had a dialogue with Buddhists and other Indian philosophical schools organised by the CIHTS. There were around nine Indian scholars, four foreign academicians, and over 40 Tibetan Buddhist scholars participating in the discussion.
In his welcome address, Ngawang Samten, director of the CIHST, said that his school has organised this discussion as suggested by His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his last visit at the school in 2004.
