Dharamshala: Inaugurating the official Web TV at a modest function here this noon, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche said that the formulation of an IT policy is at the top of the agenda for his second, consecutive term in the office of Kalon Tripa, beginning 15 August.
In order to achieve more proficiency and efficiency, guidelines on the use of technology and a standard IT policy will be fleshed out, as a part and parcel of the overall administrative reforms, along with a major overhaul of the official Websites, the Kalon Tripa said.
In his address, Kalon Lobsang Nyandak Zayul dwelt at length on what would be the highlights and the sidelights of the official Web TV. “Our focus is on political issues, while religious and cultural issues will remain peripheral,” he added.

Although the Web-based monthly video-news is in Tibetan, for the benefit of non-Tibetans, English subtitles scroll at the bottom of the screen.
“Our main aim is to bridge the divide of (physical) distance separating the Tibetan Diaspora, especially those outside of India, Nepal and Bhutan, from their administration,” Kalon Zayul added.
Also present at today’s ceremony were the Kalon for Health & Education and the secretaries of all the departments.
The head of the audio visual section of the Department of Information & International Relations, Jigme Tsering, gave a brief presentation on the salient features of the Web, with a vast pool of audio-visual archives, a comprehensive directory of Tibetan Websites and listings of documentary films on Tibet.
