Dharamshala: 13 indigenous grandmothers from around the world–Amazon in South America, Asia, Africa, Mexico, the Artic Circle and United States,– have gathered here to pray for world peace and unity.
The seven-day prayer for world peace and unity began from last Saturday and it was inaugurated by Kalon Tsering Phuntsok, Kalon for the Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
Also present at the opening ceremony of the prayer session were some deputies of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, officials of the CTA, and representatives of various non-governmental organisations (NGO).
The fourth gathering of Grandmothers’ Council here is being hosted by the Tibetan Women’s Association, one of the largest NGOs in exile.
The Grandmothers’ Council will call on His Holiness the Dalai Lama before leaving Dharamshala.
They will visit various NGOs, nunneries and participate in the 46th founding anniversary celebration of the Tibetan Children’s Village.
On 21 October, they will meet Gyalwa Karmapa.
The International Council for 13 Indigenous Grandmothers represent a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth and all the children for the generations to come.
