His Holiness Arrives in Ladakh
Dharamshala, 18 August 2005– His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived at Leh airport yesterday morning at 7:30.
His Holiness was received by a battery of eminent dignitaries including religious leaders of various faith, political leaders, representative of the Central Tibetan Administration, et al.
A giant makeshift entrance welcomed His Holiness at Choglamsar, 8 km from Leh. And thence along both sides of the road, hundreds of faithful lined up with folded hands anxiously awaiting a glimpse of His Holiness.
“The kind of devotion that His Holiness receives in Ladakh, especially from the local Muslim community, is phenomenal”, Tenpa Soepa, of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, was quoted as saying by the Voice of Tibet radio service.
His Holiness is expected to give a public teaching later in this three-week visit to Ladakh.
