Kalon Kesang Y Takla to leave for official visit

Yangkyi Takla, the Kalon for the Department of Information and
International Relations (DIIR), will leave Dharamshala on 31 December,
for an official visit to Delhi, Mundgod and Gujarat after becoming a
member of the Kashag.
While in Mundgod in Karnataka, on 3 January, the DIIR Kalon will
attend the long life offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama hosted by
the Central Tibetan Administration.
On 7 January, Kalon Takla will meet Kalon Tempa Tsering,
representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi and staff
members of India-Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) to assess the
responsibilities of ITCO and follow up on the suggestions received from
representatives of Tibetan settlements during their recent meeting in
Dharamshala.
Later in the day, she will deliver a talk on the Middle-Way
Approach to the Tibetan students studying in various colleges in Delhi
at the Tibetan Youth Hostel at Pitampura.
Next day, the DIIR Kalon will attend a board meeting of the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre.
On 16 January, she is scheduled to address the press conference
at the Kanoria Centre for Arts on the inauguration of the Tibet
Festival in Ahmedabad.
The Tibet Festival, to be held from 16 – 20 January, will
showcase the wealth of Tibet’s cultural heritage to the people of
Gujarat.
The Tibet Festival will showcase a film festival during which
such classic Hollywood films on Tibet like Seven Years in Tibet and
Kundun and other equally riveting movies like The Cup and Compassion in
Exile will be screened. It will also host talks by well-known scholars
on Tibetan medicine, Buddhism and science, traditional Tibetan songs
and dances.
The festival will host a photo exhibition on the life of His
Holiness the Dalai Lama, another photo exhibition on Tibet past and
present and Tibetan thangka painting.
While in Gujarat, she will attend talks by His Holiness the
Dalai Lama on “Ethics and Business” at the RJMCEI Auditorium, Indian
Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. She will also attend His
Holiness’ talk on “Globalisation and World Peace” at Gujarat Vidyapith
University.
On 19 January, Kalon Takla is scheduled to address Tibetans in Ahmedabad.
She will return here on 23 January.
