
Dharamshala: The Public Service Commission (PSC) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) convened an induction training for the newly recruited civil servants beginning today till 17 November at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society.
The inaugural ceremony of the fourteen-day-long training for the 30 recruits was attended by chief guest Wangdue Tsering Pesur, accompanied by Secretary Tsering Yangkyi, PSC members Choeying Dhondup and Naga Sanghe Tendhar, and tutor Tsewang Topla from Sarah college.
Following self-introduction from the participants, the Secretary of PSC acquainted training facilitators to the gathering, consisting of fresh recruitees and staff who have yet to receive the training because of Covid pandemic. In her address, the Secretary said, “from today onwards, you carry a new identity as a civil servant of CTA” to the attendees and implored them to dedicate themselves to the benefit of Tibet conflict and Tibetans.
The members of PSC, Choeying Dhondup and Naga Sanghe Tendhar, also spoke at the ceremony. The former underscored civil servants as the cornerstone of the administration whose service makes a difference to the course of Tibet’s cause, while the latter emphasised recognition of subfamilies of the Tibetan language, used by Tibetans and Himalayans, as one language, so the particular language remains despite China’s sinicisation policy. The two also stressed the daily usage of the Tibetan language.
In his address, chief guest Wangdue Tsering Pesur, the Election Commissioner cum Chairman of PSC, urged new civil servants to sincerely follow the directions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the leaderships of the CTA. He further encouraged vesting public interest above self-interest while working under the administration and appealed for everyone’s engagement in resolving the Sino-Tibet conflict.
The induction training, funded by USAID and NDI, was designed to impart education on the Tibetan language, history, and official letter writing. In addition, it imparts training on CTA’s administration, e-governance, exile Tibetan constitution, Middle Way Approach policy, secular ethics, soft skill training, and inner engineering are also in the course outline. The instructors of the fortnight workshop are Naga Sanghe Tendhar, Tsewang Topla, Dr Ashish Johri and Dr Surabhi Pandey.
