Dharamshala: Youth Empowerment Support (YES+) has officially unveiled its newly refurbished Multi-purpose Training Centre at the Tibetan Career Center (TCC), with a special inauguration ceremony held on 1 January 2025. The event was graced by Secretary Palden Dhondup of the Department of Home (CTA) presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The upgraded training facility will offer a variety of skill-building courses aimed at empowering Tibetan youth, including hands-on training in Sushi-making, Bakery arts, and Barista skills. These programs are designed to equip participants with practical skills that can open doors to employment opportunities in various industries. The first cohort of the Sushi-making course began on 1 January with 21 enthusiastic participants—far exceeding the initial expectation of 10 students.
Due to the high demand, the students have been divided into two batches: morning and afternoon sessions. “This new facility and the programs it offer are a significant step toward empowering Tibetan youth with valuable skills and fostering self-reliance,” said Secretary Palden Dhondup, Secretary of the Department of Home during the inauguration. The initiative is part of YES+’s ongoing efforts to support the economic and social development of the Tibetan community, particularly the younger generation, through education and vocational training.
