London: 16th March 2022, the annual wreath-laying ceremony, marking the 63rd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising, was held at the Innocent Victim’s Memorial, Westminster Abbey London.
Organised by the All-Party Parliamentary group for Tibet (APPGT) in the UK Parliament, in conjunction with the Tibet Society UK, the wreath-laying ceremony started at 2.00 pm with the welcome note and prayers by The Right Reverend Anthony Ball, Canon in Residence, Westminster Abbey.
H.E Minyak Rinpoche from Oxford, led the Buddhist prayers for all those who have lost their lives for the cause of Tibet and for the world peace and wellbeing of all sentient beings.
Hon Tim Loughton, MP, chair of APPGT in his address said “As we remember all those Tibetans who have lost their lives at the Chinese oppression since 1959 marking the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day, we reiterate our continuous support for the peaceful struggle of Tibet and standing solidarity with the people of Tibet including people of Ukraine, Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
The wreath is laid by Tim Loughton MP, Kerry McCarthy MP, Minyak Rinpoche, Virendra Sharma MP, Lord Alton MP and Navendu Mishra MP in memory of all Tibetans who have lost their lives as a result of China’s occupation of Tibet since 1950s and to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising that began in Tibet’s capital city Lhasa, on 10th March 1959.
The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by Staff of Office of Tibet, Free Tibet and representative from Tibetan community in UK.
