Dharamshala: A month-long winter cultural training for Tibetan students from India and Nepal, organised by Choejor Tibetan Settlement Office, was concluded on 27 January 2023. The training aimed to teach students about the Tibetan language and traditions free of charge during the winter holiday.
Representative Tsepri Lopan Tulku Ngawang Chokdup of the Office of Tibet (OoT) attended the closing ceremony of the training as chief guest along with the special guest Tibetan parliamentarians Tashi Dhondup and Sonam Norbu. The event was also attended by former Director of Tibetan Scholarship Program Dolma Tsomo, secretary of the OoT Karma Gyaltsen, Chair of Local Tibetan Assembly, Tibetan Settlement Officers (TSO) in Kathmandu, TSO of Sha-Wa-Ra regions, Director of the Snow Lion Foundation, head of the branch audit in Nepal, Director of Sherig Parkhang, president of the Local Tibetan Freedom Movement, heads of regional Tibetan Youth Association and Women Association, head of the local Tibetan schools, and the heads of other NGOs in the region.
At the closing ceremony, Secretary Yangten Rinpoche from Gaden Phodrang virtually addressed the gathering on principles of Buddhism and His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s vision on education and ethics.
Following Yanten Rinpoche’s address, TSO Phurbu Tashi of the Choejor Settlement briefed the month-long training to the gathering while appreciating Lobsang Dolma Gyalchung (DDDF) for funding the training. The facilitators and participants of the training were presented with certificates and ceremonial scarves.
The ceremony was also addressed by the chief guest and the special guest of the event.
Tsesum Lhamo, the representative of the parents, lauded the training while the student’s representative appealed for similar opportunities in the future.
