Dharamshala: Shawara Tibetan Settlement Office held official handing and taking-over of charge between its outgoing Tibetan Settlement Officer (TSO) Tenzin Palden (Section Officer) and incoming TSO Yeshi Chodon (Under Secretary) from 6 to 11 November 2024.

Deputy Secretary Tashi Dorje, the TSO of Gyal-Phak Tibetan Settlement, oversaw the handing and taking-over as an official witness representing the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration.

From 6 to 8 November, the handover of inventory and documents of the Solu Khumbu (Sharkumbu in Tibetan) settlement was successfully completed. On 9 and 10 November, the TSOs visited the Tibetan settlements of Shabru and Thangmoche in Rasuwa Gyegyeling and held meetings with the Tibetan residents.

On 11 November, all files and office equipment under the Shawara Tibetan Settlement Office’s custody were handed over to the new TSO, along with the other documents managed by the office’s accountant cum secretary and staff.

Later that afternoon, a brief gathering was held to mark the complete transition of charges and to brief the public about it.
