Dharamshala: Department of Education organises 4-day workshop on parenting skills for TCV home mothers at Peace House, Upper TCV school.
The event was attended by Mr Thupten Dorjee, President of TCV schools, Mr Tsultrim Dorjee, Director of TCV schools accompanied by Mrs Tashi Kyizom Lungrig, Head of TCV home mothers and Mr Penpa Phuntsok, representative of TCCR (Tibetan centre for conflict resolution)
Officiating the seminar, Mrs Dolkar Wangmo, Chief Career Counselor of DoE (Department of Education) elucidated the goal and motive of the workshop.
Mrs Wangmo announced that the workshop is a preliminary call for many such workshops to be followed in the future.
Explaining the curriculum activities of the workshop, she said home mothers will be educated and trained on skills development, disputes resolution mechanism etc. required for nourishing and improving their relationship with home children.
“ unbiased and unconditional love must be practised,” said Mrs Wangmo suggesting that children are born innocent and unbiased therefore home mothers should guard against favouritism in children.
Mr Thupten Dorjee in his inaugural speech reminded the mothers about the crucial responsibility of recognising children entrusted to them. Recognising their personalities, likes and dislikes, strength and weakness are the main obligations of home mothers.
“Meeting the physical and emotional needs of children through love and compassion” suggested Mr Thupten, and urged them to provide a safe and loving environment for children.
He further asked them to inculcate patience in dealing with children.
The seminar was concluded with much appreciation and acknowledgement by both organisers and home mothers.
A total of 42 home mothers attended the seminar.
