Darjeeling: Former members of TRC (ExSodra) group hosted a day-long program in gratitude to His Holiness the Great XIV Dalai Lama at Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre, Darjeeling.
On this auspicious occasion, the members of the ExSodras, on behalf of the ExSodras and 68 TRC families, presented an offering of 18” Statue of Amitayus Buddha (Tsepagmed) along with drubtho of Chenresig Mantra (Mani 6271200) and Dolma Mantra (3861900) for His Holiness’ long life and well-being to the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama through TSO Darjeeling. The program began with prayers for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s long life and well-being followed by mandala offerings to His Holiness’ Portrait by the Chief Guest, Mr. Norden, Tibetan Settlement Officer, Darjeeling, Mr. Tashi, the President of Chipa, Mr. Guru Tharchin, a founding member of ExSodra.
The members of ex-Sodra distributed relief fund, Rs 2,38,000 to 68 families and donated Rs 10,000 to the TRC youth volunteers for their voluntary work at the Centre.
The members also thanked the settlement officer Mr Norden, Dr. Lobsang of Men-tse-khang, Darjeeling and Mrs. Lhamo Yangzom, Nurse Matron of Darjeeling Planters Hospital for their timely medical assistance and support during the COVID cases in TRC.
Mrs. Yangdon, a member of the ExSodra Action Committee read out the statement of the founding members of ExSodras followed by the video message from the founding members and ExSodras Coordinators.
Mr. Guru Tharchin, one of the founding members of ExSodras explained the formation and function of ExSodras followed by Chief Guest Mr Norden’s address.
The celebration concluded with traditional dance performances and games.
