Kathmandu: Under the guidance of the Coordinator’s Office, Nepal, Tibetans in Nepal celebrated the 30th anniversary of the conferment of Nobel Peace Prize on His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 10 December inspite of constant police presence around the ceremony.
The chief guest at the event was Khen Rinpoche of Shelkar Monastery. Mr Bhavani Kharel, President of National Human Rights Foundation, Members of the 16th Tibetan Parliament Tashi Dhondup and Lobsang Choejor, former MPs, Mr Tsultrim Gyatso, Coordinator for Tibetans in Nepal, Settlement officers, Representatives of Tibetan monasteries, members of Local Tibetan Assembly, Tibetan community and students attended in large numbers to mark the auspicious occasion. The gathering also observed the International Human Rights Day.
Led by the monks, the Tibetan gathering observed prayers for the long life and health of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Likewise, Tibetans all around the world celebrated the day with prayers and tributes to His Holiness and his immeasurable contribution to the promotion of peace across the globe.
