Dharamshala: The Tibetan Settlement Office in Dharamshala organised an awareness talk focusing on the four principal commitments of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as part of the initiatives for the Year of Compassion. The programme was attended by members of the general public as well as nuns from Geden Choeling Nunnery.
The session was led by Khen Rinpoche Geshe Sonam Yaphel, who highlighted the essence of Buddhist philosophy and explained the importance of His Holiness’ four commitments—promotion of human values, religious harmony, preservation of Tibetan culture and environment, and revival of ancient Indian knowledge.
Later, the Tibetan Settlement Office also introduced this year’s Ghoton Celebration and announced the observance of the Year of Compassion. As part of the initiative, the Settlement Office will host a wide range of activities involving both the Tibetan and local Indian community, aiming to spread awareness, strengthen bonds, and inspire compassion in daily life.
