
Dharamshala: The Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration, in collaboration with the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA), organised the first Physical Conservation Training on ancient manuscripts from 14 to 17 July at the LTWA.
At the opening ceremony of the training, the keynote speaker was Geshe Lhakdor, the Director of the LTWA, and Jigme Namgyal, the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture. Dr. Anupam Sah, a specialist in the conservation of ancient manuscripts and artefacts, also delivered a talk highlighting the importance of proper conservation of ancient manuscripts and artefacts.
This training is part of the Tibetan Digital Library Project, aimed at preserving precious manuscripts and religious artefacts in monasteries and cultural institutions across India from weather-related deterioration and insect damage. A total of 26 participants from 14 monasteries and 3 cultural institutions in northern India attended this training.
