As per the scheduled program of 5th Leadership Workshop for Tibetan School Prefects, the group of Tibetan school captains visited Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile on 13th April, 2017. Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in- Exile, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok held a session with the students and the teachers from morning 9am to 10:45am.
34 school captains with 19 teachers from various Tibetan schools in exile from every corners of India has attended the session. They are also accompanied by DOE staff till the session was over.
It was started with the brief introduction to Tibetan Parliament-in Exile, its evolution and also regarding the proceeding and functioning of the parliament-in-exile. The Deputy Speaker then spoke about the Parliament Members and their responsibilities, explaining the very task of Standing Committee and the other members.
The important matters of political tour by Tibetan Parliament members to every Tibetan Settlements and Parliamentary delegation’s visit to different democratic countries for seeking their support to the cause of Tibet were also discussed in the workshop.
The Deputy Speaker explained the students about World Parliamentarians Convention on Tibet and how Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile urge other democratic nations to form a Parliamentary Tibet Support Group and to participate in such international Convention in long future.
Last 20 minutes was spent on Question & Answer session and students were pleased to get to know more about parliamentary system and its process.
