Dharamshala: The Tibetan Parliament in Exile during its 4th day of the budget session this morning unanimously passed an official resolution of gratitude to Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi for being one of the oldest and constant friends of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibet.
Parliamentarian Tsering Lhamo presented the motion in the house outlining the unprecedented leadership and support of Speaker Emerita Pelosi for perpetually strengthening the US Congress’ bipartisan commitment to advancing the cause of Tibet in the US Congress which has repeatedly proven to be a huge source of hope and inspiration for the Tibetan people across the world, particularly the ones inside Tibet. The Tibetan lawmakers also lauded her fearless leadership, commitment and unyielding perseverance in defending the freedom, justice and democracy of those oppressed by China which she remarkably demonstrated during her visit to Taiwan in August last year despite the repeated warnings issued by the authority in Beijing.
The motion presented today in the parliamentary session received unanimous support from all the parliamentarians. Moreover, they unanimously recommended hosting a grand celebration of gratitude in the near future to honour Speaker Pelosi who arguably has been and continues to be one of the most consequential and impactful supporters of Tibet.
In November 2022, the former Speaker stepped down from the position after leading the US House for more than two historic decades.
