Dharamshala: The COVID 19 Emergencies consumed much of the strength and time for the last 7 months, yet the activities and programs of the Tibetan Medicare system were not impacted by the prevailing situation as TMS hosted its first 3-day virtual workshop on “Awareness and Enrollment Planning” in three divided zones-South & Central zone on 22-Sep-2020, North East Zone on 24th- Sep, and North Zone on 25th-September.
Secretary Palden Dhondup of Dept. Health, presided over the workshops and he emphasised the importance of TMS in the Tibetan Community given the rise in the cost of health care services, and TMS aims to benefits all members of the Tibetan community irrespective of gender, age, and pre-existing illness.
Mr. Nyima Gyaltsen, Program Manager shared the background history and objective of TMS and achievements to date. Mr. ALoke Gupta, TMS Consultant and insurance expert introduced the insurance concept and the importance of TMS in terms of its differences in health coverage. He also set the target for each settlement based on their population for the coming year 2021-2022. Mr.Sangji Dhondup, IT, demonstrated TMS Data input and management in excel and software. Mrs. Tenzin Nordon, Medical officer explained the TMS claim process which includes the process from submitting bills/documents from field level to reimbursement from the health department.
48 participants from 37 different Tibetan Settlements participated in the virtual workshop. This is the 9th running year of the TMS program with an increase in members every year
