Miao: A Tibetan Martyr Pillar was erected at Choepheling settlement by Camp Leaders Office after consulting with the Settlement Officer. The total cost incurred for the pillar was Rs 4.5 lakh from which Regional U-Tsang Cholka contributed INR 1 lakh, RTWA 25 K, 15k by RTYC, and the rest by the Camp leaders office.
The pillar is solely dedicated to all the Tibetan brothers and sisters who laid down their precious lives for the sake of Tibet’s Freedom Movement since the year 1959.
The pillar was inaugurated today by Shri. Sunny K Singh, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Miao Sub-Division on 25/08/2021 coinciding with White Wednesday-LHAKAR. At the inauguration, ADC Shri Sunny K Singh also informed the Tibetans that all the projects (Repairing of roads, installation of transformers- each in camp no. 1 & 5 as per memorandum put forward by TSO office and renovation of carpet weaving section by CTSCS office) which was presented and proposed to Honorable Chief Minister during his visit on 25 March 2021 have been approved and sanctioned which will be implemented in the coming days.
As a token of gratitude for his unwavering support towards us under his dynamic leadership, a small carpet was presented to him by Mr. Tenzin Chokden, Settlement Officer on behalf of all the residents of Choephelling Tibetan Settlement, Miao.
