
Washington-DC: On the occasion of Guru Padma Sambava’s birth anniversary, the Tibetan association based in New York celebrated the auspicious event at Phunstok Deshi community hall.
The event was organised by the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute based in North America. From South India, Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargyeling monastery’s Principal Kyabje Gyangkhang Khentrul Rinpoche presided as the chief guest and addressed the gathering on the commemoration and importance of the tenth day of the sixth lunar month.
Commissioner Manuel Castro, Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, Tibetan Liaison Officer Kunga Tashi of Office of Tibet, Washington DC, Representative Sonam Topgyal of Bhutan government, Representative of Nepal, Za Khenpo Tsering Tashi were special guests. Representatives of religious associations, Tibetan associations, Bhutan associations, Sherpa associations and others attended the event as guests.
The President of the North America-based Ngagyur Nyingma Institute delivered the introductory address to the guests and the public and presented the annual report of the institute.
Tibetan Liaison Officer Kunga Tashi of the Office of Tibet, Washington DC, expressed his gratitude to the organisers for hosting the event and for being able to gather on the auspicious event and conveyed his good wishes to Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargyeling monastery’s Principal Kyabje Gyangkhang Khentrul Rinpoche.
Gyangkhang Khentrul Rinpoche prayed for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the heads of the different religious traditions.
Za Khenpo Tsering Tashi and other guests delivered their addresses, following which there were cultural performances from various associations and private entities.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice-President Lama Rabgye of Ngagyur Nyingma Institute.
