
Seoul, Korea: On 23 and 24 November 2025, the 6th Seoul International Meditation Expo was held at Dongguk University in South Korea. Under the leadership of student Yang Hee-chi, Tibetans were able to participate through the Korea Tibetan Buddhist Welfare Association.
The 6th International Meditation Expo brought together representatives from more than 25 countries and organisations where Buddhism is practised, including India, Japan, Turkistan, Korea, Tibet, Hawaii, England, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
During the event, the Tibetan booth featured a range of programmes for the public, including meditation sessions on cultivating a compassionate mind in connection with the celebration of the “Year of Compassion,” a Tibetan sand mandala construction and exhibition, an introduction to Tibetan medicine, a breathing-yoga session, demonstrations of the long trumpet (dungchen), and the singing of religious chants.
The President of the Tibetan Community in Korea, Geshe Tenzin Sangpo, along with Secretary Thinley Tenzin, made a special visit to meet with the Tibetan participants and supporters. They offered ceremonial scarves and small tokens of appreciation to express their gratitude.
The Tibetan delegation included Geshe Yeshi Palden from the Korea Tibetan Buddhist Welfare Association, who led the mandala exhibition; Geshe Tenzin Sangpo, who guided the compassion-meditation sessions; Gyuto monk Tsering Wangchuk, who demonstrated the creation of the sand mandala; sMenpa Tenzin Sherab from Nepal, who presented on Tibetan medicine; sMenpa Dawa Tso, who offered a session on therapeutic massage; and Lama Lodoe and Ani (nun) Dechen Palmo from the Kham Tashi Ling Dharma Centre, who performed with the elongated trumpet.
