Dharamshala: The Tibetan Circuit Justice Commission based in Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement organised an awareness campaign to illuminate Tibetan students and residents in Dehradun on the Tibetan exile community’s legal system beginning on 31 August 2022.
Around 180 settlers of Dekyiling and Gepheling Tibetan settlement participated in the campaign drive. Similarly, around 412 students and teachers received the awareness talk on 2 September 2022. The campaign was also held for around 150 students and teachers of Tibetan Children’s Village School in Selakui on 7 September, and for 90 residents of the Tibetan settlement in Clement Town on 9 September.
The public and schools were apprised of the evolution of Tibetan democracy in exile and the powers and responsibilities of the three pillars of the Central Tibetan Administration. The campaigning team also elucidated to them the Tibetan Justice Commission’s code of judiciary and its organisation and jurisdiction. The team also informed the public about the Code of Civil Procedure’s principal law and provided a detailed guideline on the different types of evidence, admissibility of evidence, the veracity of witnesses, examination of witnesses and the standard of proof.
Furthermore, the questions raised by the attendees were also clarified during the awareness campaign. This awareness campaign was funded by DRL through SARD.
