Dharamshala: The Tibetan Career Center (TCC), a unit of youth empowerment support, Dept. of Home- CTA has initiated various virtual activities and youth-related programs in the face of the ongoing pandemic. Many of the Tibetan Career Center (TCC) program will go virtual in the coming months.
TCC’s counselling cum placement cell has been attending the counselling queries and providing counselling support to the Tibetan youth virtually by phone calls, emails, or through social media. It has so far conducted 7 live streaming on Instagram hosted by TCC’s Head Consultant & Mentor on various topics under the Career Awareness Program ((CAP) & Youth Motivational Talks. The live streaming of the sessions are available on the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of TCC for larger audiences. Q&A was also held online.
The youth motivational talk (YMT) is designed to expose Tibetan youth to different conventional and unconventional professions through the experience and guidance of the resource person. The theme of the YMT program is “Sharing stories and multiplying hopes” as it seeks to inspire and motivate the youth to pursue their dream. Since April, the following Career Awareness Program and Youth Motivational Talk programs were conducted:
- Introduction of TCC and its program/ opportunities.
- Introduction of Youth Empowerment Support (YES) programs and opportunities.
- Information on various scholarships available” in collaboration with a representative of Global Tibetan Students’ Union (GTSU).
- YMT with Ms. Tsering Yangzom (Delhi based Yoga Trainer)
- YMT with Mr. Tenzin Samdup (Pro-Footballer at Kashmir FC)
- YMT with Mr. Tenzin Migmar (Founder, Upside Down Dance & Fitness Studio)

The Career Consultant of TCC also released a tutorial video on “Cover letter & Resume writing” in the Tibetan language as a part of the employability skills development program since building a good cover letter accompanied by a resume is a critical component of the job-search strategy.
Mr. Tenzin Paljor on TCC’s Instagram page commented; “It’s very important to know what one is made for and to give enthusiasm on your passion.”
Mentoring service is a newly introduced program at TCC. TCC’s Mentor is engaged in mentoring 4-6 mentees by providing assistance ranging from mental health to employment generation with hand-holding support. This mentoring support is provided for a longer duration by forging a close association with a mentee to fully understand his/her situation and accordingly provide the best guidance/advice.
A session on “Depression and Anxiety” was hosted by the Head Consultant with the Mentor of TCC to help support the Tibetan youth in coping with their mental health. One of the viewer in Facebook commented “Quite impressive and satisfactory discussion.”
The Computer training section continued its course in Photoshop & In-design via Whatsapp for the registered trainees, apart from which the trainer has been making and releasing various tutorials videos on Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign in TCC’s YouTube channel, Instagram & Facebook.
“Very informative and clear explanation. Looking forward to the next video” writes Mr. Rangdol for the 1st tutorial on Adobe Illustrator released in TCC Instagram account.
TCC’s Hair Dressing section continues its training with the on-going batch through Whatsapp both theoretically & practically. Apart from this, he has also released tutorial videos related to Hair Dressing.
