Tokyo: Tibet House Japan concluded its three-month Tibetan language class today. Tibetan language class is a part of Tibet House`s annual event to share the Tibetan history, religion, and culture of Tibet with those who are interested in the Tibetan language. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the class was conducted with limited physical attendance from those in Tokyo and neighbouring regions. Instead, most participants attended the class online from different parts of Japan, namely Chibaken, Osaka, Kyoto, Aiichiken, Hyogoken, Shimane, and Okinawa.
Representative Dr Arya thanked the participants for their interest, steady and earnest effort to learn the language. He congratulated those who had fulfilled the attendance requirement to receive a certificate of completion and advised the whole class on how to continue studying the language independently.
The office offered a traditional ceremonial Khata to those at the closing ceremony. In addition, Tashi Delek Restaurant served Tibetan butter tea and dishes.
The students expressed their satisfaction in participating in the language class. One student said it was a joyful experience to learn new things about Tibetan culture in each class. Some said, through this language class, they learned a lot about the rich spiritual heritage of Tibet. Some said the discussion on Buddhism and class on Tibetan songs were very enlightening and joyful. Through online messages, some appreciated the class and requested such cultural events going on throughout the year.
Mr Jigme Tsetan of the office and volunteer staff, Ms Hasegawa and Ms Suzuki helped arrange for smooth functioning of the class.
