The Tibet House Brasil hosted a visit of five-member medical team from the India-based Men-Tsee-Khang (Tibetan Medical and Astroscience Institute) from 4 to 11 May 2018.
The visit was a part of the three-country 2018 medical outreach tour of the Men-Tsee-Khang coordinated by the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Latin American region. Apart from Brazil, the medical visited Argentina and Colombia.
During their weeklong stay in Sao Paulo, the Tibet House Brasil organized a series of lectures/workshops with the visiting medical team from the Men-Tsee-Khang.
On Saturday, 5 May 2018, two lectures were organized—In the morning, Dr. Jamyang Dolma gave a lecture on Mind & Body Correlation and Its Impact on the Wellbeing and in the afternoon, Astrologer Tsering Choezom gave a lecture on the overview of the Tibetan astrology with special focus on the personal horoscope.
On Sunday, 6 May 2018, Dr. Kelsang Dolma gave a lecture on the Tibetan Medical Approach to Stress Management and Depression.
Above three lectures were held at the conference hall of the Hotel Transamerica, which is located at a block away from the Tibet House Brasil.
On Monday, 7 May 2018, Dr. Jamyang Dolma gave a lecture at the premise of the Tibet House Brasil on the Diagnostic Methods being used by the Tibetan Physicians with the special emphasis on Pulse Diagnosis. During the lecture, the physical demonstrations were also given for the clearer understanding by the audience.
On Tuesday, 8 May 2018, Dr. Jamyang Dolma gave a lecture on the Mind & Body Correlation as well as Diagnostic Methods being used by the Traditional Tibetan Physicians at the Federal University of Sao Paulo’s School of Medicine (UNIFESP).
On Wednesday, 9 May 2018, Dr Kelsang Dolma gave a lecture on the Role of Dietary, Lifestyle and Behavior in the Tibetan Medicine to Maintain Optimum Health.
The lectures were received very well by the health professionals and students as well as others interested in integrative medicine/alternative medicine and traditional medicine.
On Thursday, 10 May 2018, the Tibet House Brasil organized a brief sight-seeing for the visiting medical team, showing the well-known Ibirapuera Park—which offers several culture attractions such as Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Afro-Brazil Museum, Japanese Pavilion etc. and various sport facilities—and down town areas where Sao Paulo Metropolitan Cathedral “See” and Oriental Market or Japanese Market are located.
The visiting medical team from Men-Tsee-Khang departed Sao Paulo on the morning of 11 May 2018 for Belo Horizonte, the capital city of Minas Gerais, the largest inland state in southeastern Brazil, for another weeklong events hosted by Incisa Imam, an academic institution promoting oriental medicine and undertaking biomedical research.
