Hyderabad: The agriculture division under the Department of Home organised a three-day training program on “ plant health management practices in organic farming “ from 12th September to 14th September 2023 at the National Institute of Plant Health Management in Hyderabad.
Funded by USAID, the training was attended by 15 trainees including 13 AEOs and 2 farmers from different Tibetan settlements based in India and Nepal. A wide range of topics were covered and discussed during the training programs including the Living Soil concept, Introduction to IPM, Biological control AESA and EE, On-farm production of bio-control agents and bio-pesticides, Diagnosis of major insect pests and diseases, Management of Fruit Fly and Role of EPF and EPN in management of insect pests Safe and judicious use of pesticides etc.
In addition to this, All AEOs and farmers visited the Institute of Soil Health Management to learn first-hand information about the techniques of soil health management.
Through this training program, Agriculture extension officers were able to learn more about plant health management in organic farming and gained better exposure while visiting the training centre.
