
Dharamshala: The Election Commission has conducted a workshop on the revised election rules from 18th to 19th May 2019, at the Administrative Training Centre of the Central Tibetan Administration.The participants of the workshop are the regional election commissioners who are also the settlement officers.There were 41 regional election commissioners who have participated in the workshop. At the onset of the one and half day workshop, the secretary of the Public Service Commission cum Office bearer of the Election Commission Mrs. Tsering Yangkey welcomed and briefed about the purpose and importance of the workshop to the participants. She also appealed the participants to take serious note of the revised election rules in order to ensure the success of the upcoming election.
The Election Commissioner, Mr. Sonam Choephel Shosur explained each and every points of the revised rules. The recent sixth and seventh sessions of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile has unanimously passed the resolution to make amendments in the electoral process as recommended and tabled by the Tibetan Electoral Review Committee. He also explained the guidelines for the election of members of local assembly, settlement officer, regional election commissioners and the members of regional Tibetan Freedom movement.
Followed by a presentation by Jigme Tsering on the election database.The workshop saw active participation by the regional election commissioners; asking questions, seeking advices and offering suggestions pertaining to the Tibetan election.
The regional election commissioners who are also the settlement officers were honored with a cultural program cum dinner reception jointly by the Tenshug Committee and the Election Commission.
