Sydney: On 20 September 2025, the Sydney Weekend Tibetan Language and Culture School organised an inter-student quiz competition to commemorate the “Year of Compassion” in honour of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday.
The event focused on the life and legacy of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, particularly highlighting his four principal commitments. Participants were divided into four groups: the Promotion of Human Values Group, the Promotion of Religious Harmony Group, the Promotion of the Tibetan Cause Group, and the Promotion of Ancient Indian Knowledge Group. The Promotion of Religious Harmony Group won first prize, while the Promotion of Human Values Group secured second place.
Teachers and parents attending the event expressed great satisfaction with the students’ overall performance, especially their proficiency in spoken Tibetan. Additionally, ten recent high school graduates from the Sydney area were invited as special guests. They were presented with traditional Tibetan scarves and copies of His Holiness’s book Beyond Religion as tokens of appreciation and good luck.
This year’s quiz competition marked the tenth annual event organised by the Sydney Weekend Tibetan Language and Culture School, aimed at promoting and strengthening the Tibetan language and culture among young Tibetans.
