Dharamshala: The Department of Education, CTA, organised a Summer Leadership Program for grades VIII to X students of Sambhota Tibetan School Camp 3 & Camp 6, Mundgod, from 2 – 6 May 2022 at Ex-Army Multipurpose Community Hall of Mundgod Doeguling Tibetan Settlement.
Chief Counsellor Donkar Wangmo, Department of Education, welcomed the participants and mentioned the workshop’s goal to provide different opportunities for the students through club systems to enable student leadership. After this workshop, the school will form different clubs based on interests, needs and challenges. Students will entirely lead the clubs while the counsellors will be the facilitators, and teachers will join the clubs as mentors.
In her inaugural speech, Tibetan Settlement Officer Lhakpa Dolma, who attended the event as Chief Guest, acknowledged and commended the Department of Education for various initiatives taken towards quality enhancement of education for Tibetan children and for the collaborative efforts between the Parents Association, Local NGO’s and the Department of Education for the holistic development of the students. She further encouraged students to participate wholeheartedly and make the best use of learning at the workshop.
The inaugural function was attended by the Deputy Speaker of Local Assembly, Principal & Headmasters of STS Mudgod, President of local Tibetan Cooperative Society, Presidents of different local NGOs and representatives from various Monasteries in the region.
The workshop is facilitated by CEO & Founder Adithya Subramanian, KAARMIC Education & adventureX, social award-winning NGO, Telangana and his team.
During the five-day-long workshop, Goal Setting, Tourism Game, Agriculture – Innovations, Planting Microgreens, Foreign Language, Climate Change & Technology, Energy Audit of the school/building, Productive software and websites, Story Telling and Theatre, and formation of extraordinary clubs at school will be covered.
Summer Leadership Workshop, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), is a platform where participants will learn more about themselves and how to contribute towards resolving social issues productively.
Before concluding the event, Joint Secretary/Counselor Jamyang Wangyal, Department of Education, delivered a vote of thanks at the gathering where 124 students participated, comprising 73 males and 51 females.
