DHARAMSHALA: Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile expressed his gratitude to Representative Jim McGovern and Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen for raising the Tibet issue in the US House of Representatives on 2 May 2017.
“I, on behalf of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and all the Tibetan people, would like to express my profound gratitude for raising the issue of worsening human rights situation inside Tibet in the United States House of Representative on 2nd May, 2017,” he wrote to both.
“You stood up as a strong advocate for the truthful cause of Tibet by highlighting your speech on different issues of Tibet including the violation of religious freedoms and restriction on travels in Tibet. Your speech inspires and encourages entire Tibetans to carry forward our cause and I hope it will motivate others and steer your government towards a peaceful resolution of Tibet issue,” he wrote in the letter addressed to Representative Jim McGovern.
Addressing Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Speaker wrote, “I am deeply touched by your personal concern for the return of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Tibet, which is an obstinate desire and aspiration of Tibetans around the globe, especially Tibetans inside Tibet who are waiting, just to get a glimpse of him.”
“I genuinely compliment you for bringing out the environmental issue of Tibet which is again a pressing issue in light of the People’s Republic of China’s continued practice of using the land and resources of Tibet, primarily for resources extractions and economic exploitation.”
“Considering a shared vision and purpose we have, I trust you will continue to be the voice of voiceless, inspiring and motivating us to carry forward the truthful cause of Tibet. I wish you success in all your future undertakings.”
