Dharamshala: Senior RSS leaders Dr. Indresh Kumar and Dr. Ramlal received an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence in Dharamshala earlier today. The meeting was marked by expressions of goodwill and discussions on global peace, harmony, and environmental responsibility.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dr. Indresh Kumar extended warm greetings on behalf of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to His Holiness, who turns 90 this year—a milestone that the Central Tibetan Administration has designated as the Year of Compassion. “On behalf of the RSS, it is a privilege to convey our heartfelt felicitations to His Holiness. With the blessings of our respected leader Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, we presented a bouquet along with our sincere wishes for his continued health, happiness, and unwavering dedication to the cause of world peace and human welfare. This gesture was made with deep reverence and gratitude,” he stated.
Dr. Indresh Kumar also highlighted the RSS’s upcoming initiatives as it prepares to mark its 70th anniversary this October. “We are organising a comprehensive series of programmes aimed at fostering peace, harmony, and goodwill within the nation and beyond. These efforts are focused on bridging the divides of caste, creed, and community by promoting dialogue, understanding, and cooperation. Thousands of conferences will bring together scholars, thinkers, and social leaders to promote unity and mutual respect,” he said.
He further emphasised efforts to promote environmental responsibility, stating, “We are reaching out to over 12 to 15 crore families, encouraging them to take pledges towards environmental protection and to work together to make India pollution-free. Our vision is to build a society free from discrimination and inequality—one united by empathy, goodwill, and shared responsibility.”
Acknowledging the support of the accompanying RSS delegation member, Shri Ramlal, Dr. Indresh Kumar said, “We are grateful for the longstanding friendship and cooperation extended by your organisation, which has strengthened our efforts over the years.”
Addressing current global challenges, Dr. Indresh Kumar expressed concern over geopolitical tensions, particularly in light of China’s expansionist policies. “These developments pose a significant threat to peace and stability—not only at our borders but across the region. Neighbouring nations must prioritise peace, cooperation, and non-interference. Prolonged tensions hinder security, economic progress, and social harmony. We urge all nations to work together in a spirit of mutual respect and shared advancement,” he emphasised.
He concluded by recalling His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message of compassion. “His Holiness’ emphasis on compassion is a timely reminder of our responsibilities. We call upon all countries to choose peace, reject conflict, and build a world rooted in goodwill and human dignity. We are confident that through collective effort, a new and harmonious era will emerge.”
Dr. Ramlal also addressed the media, echoing the sentiments of his colleague. “His Holiness’ message continues to inspire us, highlighting India’s role as a land of health, happiness, and spiritual strength. Through our shared commitment to these ideals, India can play a pivotal role in guiding the world toward peace and prosperity. Let us reaffirm our resolve to work toward a better tomorrow—one grounded in compassion, unity, and sustainable development.”
Following the meeting, Dr. Indresh Kumar and Dr. Ramlal visited the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile to observe the ongoing parliamentary session. This was followed by a tour of the Tibet Museum, where they received an in-depth guided tour from the Director of the Tibet Museum, Tenzin Topdhen.
The visiting delegation was accompanied by Kalon (Minister) Dolma Gyari of the Department of Security and Kalon Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations.
During the visit, Settlement Officer Kunchok Migmar and Chemi Tashi from the Department of Security assisted and accompanied them throughout the programme.
