
Dharamshala: Secretary Tenzin Legdup officially took charge as the new Secretary of the Public Service Commission and Election Commission, earlier today on 1 November 2024 from the outgoing Secretary Tsering Yangkey.
Secretary Karma Rinchen of the Department of Security attended the handing-over ceremony as it official witness. Both the incoming and outgoing Secretaries were presented with a ceremonial scarves by Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi and Public Service Commission Karma Yeshi.
Brief Bio:
Secretary Tenzin Legdup was born on 26 April 1977 in Lug-Sam Tibetan Settlement to late father Phuntsok Norbu and mother Kelsang Tsomo.
He joined the Central Tibetan Administration on 6 February 2003 as Under Secretary and took charge as Secretary of the Dikyi Larsoe Tibetan Co-operative Society. He completed his probation period on 27 September 2003, becoming a permanent staff member of the CTA.
Over the course of his services, he was transferred to the Finance Department upon promotion to Deputy Secretary on 20 January 2009 and continued his services at the Finance Department – even after getting promoted to Joint Secretary on 7 September 2013 – until he was sent to serve as Secretary in the office of Tibet Japan in 2014. After returning from Japan, he served at the Kashag Secretariat, Home Department, and Finance Department in different capacities.
Before being appointed Secretary of the Public Service & Election Commission, he also served as an acting Secretary of the Department of Finance.
