
Mundgod: Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, attended the enthronement ceremony of Dorje Lobpon (Vajra master) Shedrub Yonten Sangpo as the abbot of the Ngagyur Dordrak Sa-Ngak Choekhorling Monastery in Mundgod on 13 September 2024.
The enthronement ceremony began with Dorje Lobpon Shedrub Yonten Sangpo prostrating before the sacred shrines in Ngagyur Dordrak Sa-Ngak Choekhorling Monastery’s congregation hall and offering ceremonial khatags to a portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the abbot of Dorje Drak Monastery in Shimla, who oversaw the ceremony.
Choktrul Ngawang Tenzin, on behalf of the Lachung Rinpoche, then presented a pansha (Pandita hat) and certificate to Dorje Lobpon Shedrub Yonten Sangpo, officially marking the enthronement of the latter.
Subsequently, the Abbot of Shimla’s Dorje Drak Monastery read Lachung Rinpoche’s statement for the occasion and provided a brief biography of the newly appointed abbot.
Following that, the assemblage, including Secretary Dhondul Dorjee, Deyang Rinpoche, who is deputising for Nechung Kuten, and other reverent lamas and tulkus from various monasteries, predominantly from the monasteries of Nyingma school, offered ceremonial Khatags to honour Abbot Shedrub Yonten Sangpo.
