Puruwala, Himachal Pradesh: In honour of the Year of Compassion and in celebration of the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Puruwala Tibetan Settlement organised a winter clothing donation drive to support families facing hardship. As part of this effort, warm jackets for elders and children, along with sweatshirts and sweaters for women and men, were offered with the hope of bringing comfort during the colder months.
The initiative was coordinated by Tibetan Settlement Officer Tenzin Namgyal and Sakya Tibetan Society General Secretary Nyima Tsering. Together with settlement members, they visited a nearby government school, Ambiwala School in Puruwala, where—under the presence of School Master Ajay Chauhan and SMC Pradhan Mohan Singh—warm jackets were provided to 33 students from classes 1 to 5.
The group also visited the home of a single mother who has lived with blindness since birth and faces significant financial challenges. She resides with her two children under the care of a relative. To support them through the winter, the settlement offered warm sweaters and jackets to the family.
This small act of service was aimed to reflects the values of compassion and collective responsibility inspired by His Holiness, and it offered a moment of warmth and reassurance to community members who needed it most.
