DHARAMSHALA: Ms Jennifer Clement, President of PEN International and Mr Carles Torner, Executive Director of PEN, visited the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat today. The visit was facilitated by PEN Tibetan Association based in Dharamshala.
The two visitors were welcomed to the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat by Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok. They spoke for about half an hour during which they discussed ways to promote Tibetan language and culture across the world. Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok also spoke about the deteriorating situation of Tibetan education inside Tibet due to China’s clampdown on Tibetan intellectuals and study of Tibetan language and culture.
Deputy Speaker further expressed his gratitude to the organisation’s consistent support in the promotion of Tibetan language and culture through the PEN Tibetan association. He also gave a brief account of Tibet’s past and present political situation and urged them to support the Tibetan movement led by the Central Tibetan Administration.
