Dharamshala: Members of Tibetan Parliamentarian Dawa Tsering and Ngawang Tharpa successfully completed their official visit to Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement, Odisha and nearby Tibetan winter sweater sellers of Cuttack and Brahmapur from 26 to 29 November.
The delegation were received at Bhubaneswar Airport by Settlement Officer Chenor Samdup along with Sangay Dorjee, Vice Chairman of Local Tibetan Assembly; Tsering Phuntsok, Secretary of Tibetan Cooperative of Phuntsoling Tibetan Settlement, Odisha.
The official tour began from Cuttack, where the Parliamentarians addressed on CTA’s ‘Middle Way Approach’ the political stand of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the accomplishment of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, critical situation inside Tibet, the evolution of Tibetan democratic polity, and procedures of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. They also answered questions asked by the Tibetan winter sweater sellers and clarified their doubts.
On 27 November, the Parliamentarians visited Tibetan winter sweater sellers of Brahmapur. Parliamentarian Dawa Tsering spoke about the accomplishments of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Middle Way Policy, while Parliamentarian Ngawang Tharpa addressed on the critical situation inside Tibet, the evolution of Tibetan democratic polity, and procedures of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
The delegation later visited Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement of Odisha, the Settlement Office, Tibetan Cooperative, Local Tibetan Assembly, Local Tibetan Freedom Movement, ongoing staff quarter construction site, old age home, drinking water filtration project of Tibetan cooperative, supermarket of Tibetan cooperative, open GYM at camp 3, Melha hospital, Nyingon Dutul Raptenling, and Namkha Khuzong Nunnery.
The settlement officer apprised the Parliamentarians of construction projects, restoration project for the destruction caused by storm, and Record of Tenancy Certificate (RTC) facilitated through Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy.
On 28 November, the Parliamentarians visited Sambhota Tibetan School at Chandagiri, Kalash Hostel, Tibetan Sambhota at Lobersing, Men-Tse-Khang, Sambhota Tibetan School of Mahendragiri, football ground project at camp 5, Rigon Thupten Mindroling Monastery, and Ugen Thekcholing Monastery.
They also visited the Settlement office project of Mango and Maize farms, which were situated across a mountain. They also visited lemongrass farm, cashew farm, and checked the agricultural equipment of individual farmers.
Later that day, they gave a public address to the Tibetan community of 5 camps. Next morning, they departed for the next leg of their official visit: Tatanagar.
