
Washington DC: As the representative of the Office of Tibet, Washington, DC, Tibetan Liaison Officer Kunga Tashi attended the 4th Annual Gathering of the Danang Foundation’s Cultural School, held last Saturday at the Phuntsok Deshi Tibetan Community Hall.
Approximately 200 attendees participated in the event, including the President of the Tibetan Community of New York & New Jersey, the Principal of Losel Ketsel Ling Tibetan Weekend Language Class, the Deputy Director of the Danang Foundation, and numerous parents of students enrolled in the Foundation’s programs.
Soeyang, Principal of the Danang Cultural School, opened the gathering by outlining the purpose of the annual gatherings and providing an overview of the school’s current status. sMenpa Kunga Wangdu, Deputy Director of the Foundation, shared a historical account of the organisation’s founding by Lama Tsewang Rinpoche and emphasised the importance of parental support in fulfilling the Foundation’s mission to educate children and adults who have not access to formal schooling.
As the event’s chief guest, Tibetan Liaison Officer Kunga Tashi expressed heartfelt appreciation to Lama Tsewang Rinpoche for establishing the Foundation, and to the dedicated teachers for their unwavering commitment to educating students. He also stressed the vital role of parents in reinforcing at home what students learn at school, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts to avoid potential learning challenges.
Following his remarks, two parent representatives shared their personal experiences and reflections on the impact of the Danang Cultural School on their children’s education and growth.
The gathering concluded with a singing of hymns in honour of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s upcoming 90th birthday, a ceremonial cake-cutting, cultural performances by students, and the official launch of the school’s annual journal.
