
MOSCOW: The Moscow based Tibet Culture and Information center (Office of Tibet) was registered under Ministry of Justice of the Russian federation in 1993. Since its establishment, Dr Ngawang Rabgyal (1992-1997) (2008-2015), Ngawang Gelek (1997-2002), Tashi la (2002-2008) have served as Representatives.
The above representatives were sent to study in the Soviet Union in the 1980’s and were fluent in Russian. Currently, Telo Tulku Rinpoche is the Honorary representative and has been holding the post since Febraury 2015.
The current board members held its annual gathering. Telo Tulku Rinpoche gave a detailed report on the activities of the Office of Tibet in 2017.
“The year 2017 was the year of campaign and we have done our best to build public awareness and make more friends and gather more support,” Telo Tulku Rinpoche said. “As 2017 ends, we are glad to conclude this year with much success and lots of memories to cherish. We will continue the struggle for Tibet and its freedom. 2018 will be year of “Thank you Russia” and we will be planning various events throughout Russia and Mongolia.”
The board members praised the results of the Office of Tibet and pledged to continue their support. Each board members were offered a “Khata” (traditional Tibetan ceremonial scarf) and New year presents by Telo Tulku Rinpoche and staff Mr Karma Tenzing.
