
Dharamshala: A delegation of members of the New Zealand parliament and Fijian parliament arrived in Dharamshala for a four-day visit during which the delegation will have an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and meet with leadership of the Central Tibetan Administration, including officiating Sikyong Dolma Gyari (Minister of the Department of Security) and Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile. They will also visit various Tibetan educational and cultural institutions based in Dharamshala.
On 10 December, the delegation will attend the official function celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the conferment of the Noble Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and commemorating the 76th Anniversary of International Human Rights Day.
The delegation comprises New Zealand MP Joseph Mooney of the National Party, MP Ingrid Leavy and MP Helen White, both of the Labour Party and Fijian MP Rinesh Sharma.
The group was accompanied by Representative Karma Singey of the Canberra-based Office of Tibet and Kevin Mooney, Regional Liaison (Canberra) of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC).
Secretary Karma Choeying, accompanied by protocol staff Tenzin Choeyang, from the Department of Information and International Relations extended welcome reception for the visiting delegation at Kangra Airport earlier this morning.
