Paris: The Coordinator of Bureau du Tibet in Paris, Thupten Tsering, and Karma Thinley, the President of Tibetan Community in France, attended the flag hoisting ceremony and a get-together at Saint-Chaffrey, Southeastern France on 20 March 2023. The event was organised by the commune’s Mayoral office to express their dedicated support towards the cause of Tibet.
Upon their arrival, Saint-Chaffrey’s Mayor Madame Corinne CHANFRAY, Deputy Mayor Madame Cindy CHABROL and office staff Madame Stephanie PEGUES held a reception along with a few Chaffrelins from the Urgence Tibet, a regional Tibet Support Group, and Tibetan resident of the town. Thereafter, the visiting duo were taken to visit the ski resort situated on the region’s alp (2,900 ft above sea level).
The flag hoisting of the Tibetan national flag was held at the Mayor’s office, where Madame Corinne CHANFRAY addressed the gathering assuring her solemn support to the cause of Tibet. The Tibetan Coordinator apprised the Mayor and staff of situations inside Tibet and handed over the 10th March’s statement of 16th Kashag and 17th Tibetan Parliament in Exile. Likewise, Karma Thinley informed the meeting about status and population of Tibetan residents of France in French. The duo presented ceremonial scarves and souvenirs to the Mayor and staff as a gesture of appreciation for their support.
The Coordinator and President of the Tibetan Community also met and interacted with the Tibetan residents of Grenoble en route to their trip to Saint-Chaffrey.
