Revisiting the roots and re-strengthening the cause for Tibetan movement within Indian masses, India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) on Friday, 20 August 2021 in coordination with Samyeling Tibetan Settlement Office, Majnukatilla, organised a meeting cum felicitation program for Shri Shyam Gambhir, one of the senior members of India-Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) Delhi Chapter and a long time Tibet supporter at Tibetan Settlement Office Hall in Majnukatilla.
ITCO Coordinator Mr. Jigmey Tsultrim presented the introductory address and briefed the members about the meeting objective of recognizing and appreciating the contribution and dedication of individuals who have been always at the forefront of supporting the Tibetan cause. At the same time, it was also to listen and learn from their struggle and experiences which will be helpful for the younger generation in the journey of Tibetan freedom movement.
Shri Shyam Gambhir and his wife, Smt. Renu Gambhir are both senior members of ITFS Delhi Chapter, and have been long time supporter and friends of Tibet dedicating their time and sweat for the Tibetan cause. As of now, Smt. Renu Gambhir is in poor health and is undergoing treatment.
Shri Gambhir in his address spoke about his feelings and experience of working for the Tibetan cause since long. He had been associated with Tibbat Mukti Sadhana from the 80’s accompanied by great individuals who were always at the forefront in supporting Tibet. Shri Gambhir mentioned that the dedication and zeal were immense in the Tibet supporters of those times compared to todays. He stressed that it is very much important to keep the flame of Tibet Mukti Sadhana burning until Tibet is free. He further emphasised on the need to strengthen the relation between Indians and Tibetans, and of course, the need of Indian support for the Tibetan cause more than ever.
The Representatives of Tibetan NGOs and Associations of Samyeling Tibetan Settlement of Majnukatilla and Budh Vihar, on behalf of Tibetan community of Majnukatilla and Budh Vihar felicitated Shri Shyam Gambhir and Smt. Renu Gambhir (in absence) for their lifelong dedication and untiring support for the Tibetan cause. The members offered their heartfelt thanks to Shri Gambhir for his guiding words in dedication and service for the Tibetan freedom movement.
The meeting cum felicitation program was attended by ITCO Coordinator Mr. Jigmey Tsultrim, TSO Mr. Phuntsok Topgyal and Representatives from 17 Tibetan NGOs and Associations of Samyeling Tibetan Settlement of Majnukatilla and Budh Vihar.
