Ravangla, Sikkim, 2 October 2025: In observance of the global Year of Compassion and in celebration of the 90th Birth Year of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama, the Kunphenling Goton Committee—together with the monks of Thupten Dhargyeling Monastery (Tsechu Gumpa) and the devout residents of Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement (KTS), Ravangla—organised a day of sacred prayers and offerings at revered sites across Sikkim.
The programme commenced with a One Thousand-Fold Collective Ritual Offering (Tongchö), performed in accordance with the profound Jangter Rigzin Dongdrup tradition. Around 100 devotees participated in the ceremony, joining in collective prayers and aspirations dedicated to His Holiness’ long life, global peace, harmony, and the flourishing of the Dharma.
As part of the offerings, participants also hoisted prayer flags and performed Sangsol (juniper smoke offering) at the sacred Sharchog Bayphug Cave (Secret Cave of the Dakinis) in the Hidden Land of Sikkim. These rituals were conducted with deep reverence to invoke blessings, purify negativities, and radiate compassionate energy for the benefit of all beings.
The commemorative activities extended to several other sacred sites, including Drakar Tashiding – the Heart of the Sacred Sites, as well as Holy Caves of Sikkim: East – the Hidden Cave of the Dakinis, South – the Cave of the Heart of the Deity, and West – the Cave of Great Bliss.
In the spirit of compassion, devotees also engaged in meritorious acts such as animal release and charitable offerings, all dedicated to the well-being of sentient beings and the continued long life of His Holiness.
This event formed a meaningful part of the Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement’s Goton Activities for the Year of Compassion. It not only honoured the 90th Birth Year of His Holiness but also reaffirmed the community’s commitment to the universal values of compassion, harmony, and devotion that His Holiness has exemplified throughout his life.
