Kalon Lobsang Nyandak Meets President of European Parliament

Dharamshala, 13 July 2005- The Kalon for the Departments of Finance and Information & International Relations of Central Tibetan Administration yesterday met the president of the European Parliament (EP), Joseph Borell, and briefed him on the plight of Tibetans inside and outside Tibet and the state of current Sino-Tibetan dialogue.
Kalon Lobsang Nyandak, who will be in Brussels from 11-14 July, also met Michael Matthiessen, personal representative of European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Mrs. Laima Andrikiene, member of EP, and Dirk Sterckx,
chairman of EP China Delegation.

The Kalon also addressed about 100 people at a function organised yesterday at the Concert Noble by the Bureau du Tibet, Brussels, to celebrate the 70th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Present at the ceremony were 8 members of the EP, 10 official of Belgian government, 5 diplomats, 20 staff of the European Commission, 5 staff of the European Council, 5 members of the Belgian Parliament, Tibet supporters and leaders of the local Tibetan community.
In the last leg of his three-nation tour, Kalon Lobsang Nyandak is expected to travel back to Paris on 14 July, where he will meet the members of the French Parliament and the Tibet Support Groups before he returns to India on 18 July.
