Tokyo: Super Samgha, an association of non-partisan Japanese Buddhist Sangha members, issued a statement condemning the continued religious repressions in Tibet and the Chinese communist party’s insidious propaganda claiming authority to select the reincarnation of high Tibetan Lamas, including the reincarnation of the 14th Dalai Lama.
The statement was issued on 10th March and read during the 64th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day function on 11th March in Tokyo.
Ven. Kobayashi Shuei and Ven. Ono Jokan of Super Samgha visited the Liaison Office of H.H. the Dalai Lama today and handed over the statement officially to Representative Dr. Arya Tsewang Gyalpo. They expressed solidarity with the Tibetan people in and outside Tibet and denounced the ongoing Chinese repressive and dangerous policy to destroy Tibetan cultural and religious identity.
“We are deeply concerned that today, under the Chinese government, the entire identity of the Tibetan people, including their life, culture, and ethnicity, is in danger of being extinguished, and we urge that this situation be corrected with justified anger rooted in the Buddha`s great compassion, so that true peace and freedom in Tibet can be realised.” Said the statement.
It further noted, “We reiterate that the system of recognition of the reincarnation of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and all subsequent Dalai Lamas is a religious tradition unique to Tibetan Buddhism, and no country, organisation, or individual has the right to interfere with this system.”
Representative Dr. Arya Tsewang Gyalpo offered Tibetan Khatas and thanked the Super Samgha`s delegations for the statement and for their continued support for Tibetans` struggle for peace and justice.
Last year the Japan Buddhist Conference for World Federation issued a similar statement. Last month the Tibet Support Group Japan too issued a strong statement condemning the CCP to stay off the Tibetan religious affairs and stop repressions in Tibet.
